Meeting the health care needs of women from adolescence through older adulthood with understanding and compassion is the goal of Dr. David Lang, a board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist, and Amanda Bukaty, a nurse practitioner certified in women’s health and family practice.

“With the recent addition of Amanda to Providence Medical Group OB/GYN., we can take care of most women’s health concerns right here, close to home, providing outstanding continuity of care for women in Wyandotte and Leavenworth counties,” Dr. Lang says.

Together, Dr. Lang and Bukaty form an experienced women’s health care team. Bukaty is a former labor, delivery and recovery nurse who received her post-master’s certificate as a family nurse practitioner from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, and her master’s of science in nursing-women’s health, from Frontier Nursing University, Hyden, Ken.

Bukaty often works with the practice’s adolescent patients. “I enjoy communicating with our younger patients, educating them about their health care concerns,” she says. She takes a holistic approach to medicine, making sure the patient’s body systems are in balance.

“I take the time to sit down and really listen to my patients about their concerns,” Bukaty says. “I do my best to answer their questions, exploring issues that range from changes in mood, to questions about family planning and birth control.” In addition to patient education, Bukaty is certified to perform minor office procedures.

Dr. Lang has extensive experience in women’s health care, including obstetrics and prenatal care. He performs deliveries exclusively at the Providence Family Care Center. “I have practiced at other hospitals in the area, but in my opinion, the Providence staff is outstanding. They provide highly personal care in an atmosphere that is comfortable and compassionate,” Dr. Lang says.

The Providence Family Care Center features Labor-Delivery-Recovery Rooms, high-tech fetal monitoring to track uterine contractions and fetal heart rate during labor and delivery; an outstanding medical team; comprehensive education and support; and security to ensure a safe environment for patients and their families.

Dr. Lang also practices gynecology and age management medicine, including bioidentical hormone replacement to help patients manage the symptoms related to menopause. He treats infertility, polycystic ovary disease and performs minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery.

He earned his doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, Kansas City, Mo., and performed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Northeast Regional Medical Center, Kirksville, Mo. He received a bachelor of science degree in biology from the University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kan.

Dr. Lang is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, American Congress of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American Institute for Minimally Invasive Surgery. He also is serving on the Fetal Infant Mortality Review Board for Wyandotte County.

Before coming to the Kansas City area, Dr. Lang spent six years serving in the United States Air Force. When he initially joined the Air Force, he trained to become a flight navigator, then received training in electronic warfare, logging 1,000 hours of flight time before advancing to the role of instructor. Following graduation from medical school, he practiced for three years at the Marines Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina.

Dr. Lang and Bukaty see patients at Providence Medical Group OB/GYN, 8919 Parallel Parkway, Suite 455, Kansas City, Kan.; and at the Saint John Medical Plaza, Suite 282, Leavenworth, Kan.
